Amanda & Justin's Engagement Portraits

This fashionable couple from Atlanta chose to do their engagement shoot near the house Amanda grew up in Lyman. A next door neighbor that watched Amanda grow up was kind enough to let us use the front of her beautiful Colonial-style house for some shots.

Since they are creatives themselves (they both write for magazines in Atlanta), we figured they would be fun to work with. Amanda and Justin rocked the serious model look but they also weren't afraid to flash a genuine smile when they looked into each other's eyes. We can't wait for their wedding at The Acanthus this summer!

What can we say, we were lovin' the swing!

See what we mean about rockin' that model look. They look like they could be on the cover of a magazine! But they sound like they enjoy writing for them more.

They both have striking eyes.

Who says you can't shoot after the sun goes down?!

Jamie & Scott's Portraits

It's a beautiful thing when you get the opportunity to photograph two people so in love. That was our luck when we had Jamie and Scott's shoot recently up at Ceasar's Head, SC. Scott is in the Army, currently stationed in Iraq, and he happened to be home for a couple weeks so it was perfect timing. Just the thrill of being together, when most of the year they are worlds apart, amplified their chemistry even more and they were just enjoying each other and having fun. It was nothing like work at all for us.

We already got to know Jamie at her Boudoir session last Fall. After meeting Scott and having so much fun with the two of them, we can't wait for their wedding at the Cliffs of Glassy this Fall.

They're just so darn cute together!

We were having fun with shadows that day.

We all got a kick out of the funny faces they made during the piggy-back rides.

This is the first example of a more dramatic, almost surreal, environmental shot we are going to try at each shoot. Something that would make an awesome gallery wrap since those are becoming quite popular. It's done using a light painting technique and only one flash!

Kristen & Steve's Beach Wedding on Anna Maria Island

Wow this year seems to be flying. Is it really almost April already?! This past month has been crazy, between turning our basement into a studio and gallery and traveling for a couple destination weddings. We've been having a blast though. We're so excited about the new space and can't wait to unveil all the cool new things we'll be able to do with it. We'll post some progress pics in a few days.

Until then we thought we'd blog about one of our awesome Florida weddings. All of our clients are special to us and we enjoy the friendships we form with them but this wedding was particularly special since it was for Kristen, one of our good friends that we have known since High School! It was also a complete change of pace for us. Emily was actually in the wedding as a bridesmaid and we wanted her to be able to enjoy the day with Kristen and not worry about shooting. Though she did photograph Kristen getting ready, I was the sole photographer for the day. It was actually a fun challenge for me to ensure I was getting everything that we normally capture together.

The wedding was held right on the beach in Anna Maria Island, Florida and it was a gorgeous sunny day. And when we flew back to Greenville the following Monday what were we greeted with but snow on the ground! Go figure.

Guess who. Yes that's my beautiful wife Emily doing her best Cousin It impersonation. I'd say she nailed it!

The flower girl was so cute when she jumped for joy after catching the bouquet. She was one of the most enthusiastic we've ever seen.

Kristen & Steve,

We are so glad that you found each other. We are also glad that we could be there to share in your big day and capture it for you as well. Thank you for being such great friends and we wish you all the happiness that a lifetime of love can bring.

We love you guys,
