'Tis the season...for love! We really got into the holiday spirit this weekend at Christina and Stephen's wedding. The church was beautifully decorated with a ton of poinsettias and a huge Christmas tree. The weather was actually quite warm, for December, which made the ice cream bar a big hit with the guests. Here are some of the highlights of the day.
With Black Friday quickly approaching it is apparent the holiday shopping season is in full swing. As Emily and I were thinking about what to get our loved ones this year it occurred to us that we almost always think of photography-related gifts first. (We just can't help it, its what we do!) And as we've had many of our couples ordering wedding and engagement prints for their loved ones for Christmas, we realized that giving the gift of memories is a wonderful idea. We think the coolest part about this is that couples can "register" with Kismet Photography for their wedding, just like they would at Macy's or Target. All the couple has to do is tell their friends and families to go to our website where they can purchase Gift Certificates that can be applied towards any of our photography services or fine products.
Our Gift Certificates are not restricted to weddings as they make wonderful gifts for anyone and can be used to purchase portrait sessions and prints as well. Giving the gift of quality photography in the form of a beautiful wall portrait or a custom-designed album is timeless and will be cherished for generations to come.
Bianca and John's wedding took place this Saturday at the historic Lake Lure Inn, which just happens to be where "Dirty Dancing" was filmed, for all you Patrick Swayze fans (are there still any Patrick Swayze fans?).
Weddings are just naturally all day smile fests which usually leave the bride and groom with aching jaws, but by the end of the night, our faces were feeling the same way. From the lively conversations between Bianca, her mom and bridesmaids to the karaoke at the reception, Emily and I were smiling the whole day. Of course there were tear-jerker moments as well, especially seeing the look on John's face when he first saw his beautiful bride. As a bonus, one of our past couples, Tiffany & James, were at the wedding and it was great to see them again.
All in all it was a beautiful day packed with laughter and emotions. We were so happy to be there to watch it all unfold and capture the memories. One memory we will never forget is John's sister and a friend giving the couple a farewell serenade from the top of a table. Now that's a send-off!

Today we went to Falls Park with Colleen and Rob for their engagement portraits. They're having their reception at Falls Cottage so we thought it would be cool to incorporate it into some shots. We really enjoyed getting to know them better and seeing them interact together. They just bought their first house and hearing about their scuffles over paint colors reminded us of our first house. Congrats to you both on your new house and we can't wait to see you get married and make it a home.
Today was also our 7th anniversary as a couple so after the shoot we just relaxed the rest of the day. We even tried our hand at making classic Italian risotto for the first time. We were a little hesitant because of the daunting recipe but after 20 minutes of violent stirring, it turned out great.
Since the rain during Shari and Joe's previous session didn't allow us to use all of Reedy's beautiful spots, we went back this weekend for another shoot. This time the park was bustling with people who came out for "Shakespeare in the Park", but we still managed to get a lot of great shots. We've had so much fun with their engagement session, we know their wedding will be a blast! 
To celebrate their growing family, Kristine and Dave wanted to have maternity portraits done at the Rock Quarry Gardens. They chose this spot not only because it's beautiful and secluded, but it's also where they had their wedding. They're so excited about becoming parents and we all had a great time. Their little bundle of joy is due in December. We can't wait to hear whether it's a boy or girl! Congratulations to you both.
A terrific couple and a little footsie make for a great photo shoot. We didn't let the rain get the best of us tonight during Shari and Joe's engagement session at Falls Park. Besides, umbrellas make great props.
Eventually the rain let up and we headed to the bridge where Joe originally popped the question. They even reenacted that special moment for us to critical acclaim. After she said "Yes!"...again, we headed to Brick Street Cafe where they had reserved a private room. If you have never been to Brick Street Cafe on Augusta, you are missing out. There's something about the ambiance that gets you in a romantic mood. Shari and Joe are naturals in front of the camera and weren't even shy about playing a little footsie for us.
Fall is in the air! This Saturday's wedding with Carrie and Chris was beautifully decorated with a harvest theme complete with autumn-colored M&M's (yum). The mother of the bride did an amazing job creating all the bouquets and flower arrangements.
Carrie and Chris are a laid back and fun couple and their wedding was just the same. We really appreciated how everyone treated us like part of the family.
Congratulations again to you both and we hope you enjoy your long-awaited honeymoon in the Bahamas! 
Last night Curtis and I went to a quarterly Upstate Bridal Association meeting held at the Victoria Place Salon and Spa in downtown Greer. If you've never been, it is an amazing place with more spa treatments than a girl could ever wish for.
Tasteful Elegance, A Taste of Heaven and Kathy and Company all provided delicious desserts from cakes to cookies and even cheesecake. Tasteful Elegance even had sugar cookies that you can stamp with an edible logo or picture. We thought they would make awesome personalized wedding favors. Needless to say, we were on a sugar high the whole night.
Saturday we had an awesome wedding with Kristen and Chris at the Thornblade Country Club. Mary, gracious hostess and mother of the groom, welcomed Kristen and all her bridesmaids to her beautiful home to get ready. Blue skies and a golf course view made for great shots of Chris and his groomsmen doing their "Reservoir Dogs" impersonation.
The reception was a blast thanks to the music of Orange Krush, a phenomenal cover band from Asheville. They kept the dance floor shaking, literally, all night and even played an encore.
